Where Has Our Humanity Gone? X

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, humanity is defined as the quality or state of being kind to other people or to animals.

When you see a cat on the street, obviously homeless, do you turn your back and pass as if you see nothing at all, or do you reach out to this cat with compassion and concern?

There are so many everyday people who reach out and do something to change the life of such a cat. They give of themselves by providing their time and money to see that these cats are not unloved. They see that they have food, shelter, water, medical treatment and more. All expenses are often paid for out of their own pockets. These volunteers are vital to the survival of our community cats.

However, too many walk by, not knowing how to get involved. These people, compassionate as they may be, simply don’t know what to do. There are others who could care less about these cats, but the people who dislike cats are actually in the minority, making up only about 20% of our population.

If you don’t know what to do, know there are community cat resources in almost every area. Check with vets, animals shelters and animals rescue groups to find out who they are. An easy search on the internet can yield a wide variety of options for your particular location.

If you can turn your back and walk away, or don’t want to get involved, I have two questions: Where has your humanity gone? Is that person in the mirror you look at every day compassionate and kind, or not?
